Dr. Ellsworth did his undergraduate studies at BYU and Idaho State, graduating with a B.S. in zoology.  He graduated from University of Nevada School of Medicine in 1991.  He completed 2 years of general surgery residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma Washington, then 4 years of urology training at Madigan AMC and Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. He served 11 years in the army, serving at Dugway PG, Walter Reed AMC, and Womack AMC at Ft. Bragg, NC.  He is now in his 8th year of practice in St. George.  He is married to the former Sherri Jones and has 3 children. He loves to fish and spend time with his family outdoors as much as possible.
